INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS TO INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

1.GENERAL

(a)Before filling the Application Form applicants are advised to read carefully the 'Regulations and 'Information on Programmes' available on the vti website: www.vtimauritius.com

(b) Applications are invited for Full-Time Programmes to be offered in the academic year 2020/2021 . The list of programmes offered is also available on the vti website.

(c)Qualifications obtained after the closing date will not be considered.

2.HOW TO APPLY

Application for admission will be open and on request prior to admission notice and all procedures and instructions indicated should be carefully followed.

3. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION

The duly completed Application Form together with copies of birth and educational certificates and proof of payment of Application Fee of 150 US Dollars, exclusive of bank charges, should be submitted online only as per instructions in the application form. Married women should also submit a scanned copy of their marriage certificate. Incomplete application will not be considered.

4. GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

EITHER

(i) up to a pass in English Language at Cambridge School Certificate/ 'O' Level

Or equivalent

(ii) Qualifications awarded

by other institutions, which have

been approved as satisfying the minimum requirements for

admission.

(iii) The French Baccalauréat.

(v) The IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate awarded by the

International Baccalaureate Organisation, Switzerland.

5. MEDIUM OF TEACHING

The medium of teaching is English, but some programmes have a few modules taught in French/creole language.

6. FEES

The institute reserves the right to review fees for any given academic year prior to the beginning of such academic year. By accepting a seat at the institute , the student undertakes to pay all such fees as and when claimed and include annual examination registration and examination fee and course materials if any .

7. ACCOMMODATION

The institute is non-residential. International students are assisted in finding a suitable lodging in the vicinity of the campus. Students would need about a minimum of 10,000 Mauritian Rupees monthly for accommodation and living expenses.

8. HEALTH

International students securing a seat at the institute will be required to produce a medical certificate issued by any private Laboratory/Clinic/Hospital in Mauritius attesting that they are not suffering from any contagious or infectious disease and they may be asked to undergo a medical check-up, at the students' own cost, in Mauritius.

9. VISA & RESIDENCE PERMIT

The institute will submit applications for entry visa and residence permits for international students who are offered admission on any programme at the institute

1.Form “Application to Enter Mauritius" duly filled in, dated and signed by the applicant;-original

Two recent passport size photographs of the applicant;-original
Photocopy of the bio-data pages of the passport of the applicant beyond period of stay;
Letter of admission in a recognized educational establishment or TVET institution;- original
Letter of offer from institution;
Letter of acceptance from student; original
A duly signed and sealed covering letter from a recognized educational establishment or TVET institution, with details of duration of course and start date; original
Certificate of registration from HEC or MQA
Accreditation of programme letter from Higher Education Commission (HEC) or Mauritius Qualification Authority(MQA);
A recent bank statement for a period of last 6 months, - original
letter of sponsorship from parents or guardian, original

copy of ID or passport of parents or guardian

Accommodation letter (proof of address in Mauritius and Copy of ID of tenant); original

A medical certificate: country of origin -original

. A test for HIV, Hepatitis B, a Chest X-ray carried out in his/her country of origin. Another medical certificate within one month as from date of arrival in Mauritius.

The institute does not take the responsibility of prospective students' families.

10. FURTHER INFORMATION

10.1Candidates are normally notified of the outcome of their applications within one month after the closing date of applications.

10.2Prospective applicants are informed that the institute reserves the right not to run any one of the programmes should there be an insufficient number of students registered for it.

10.3 Upon receipt of Letter of Offer and acceptance of same, foreign candidates will have to provide evidence of payment of full fees from their bank (including full name, the amount credited to Vocational Training Institute ltd account and the date) by emailing us a scanned copy of same on vti@intnet.mu . Please note that only upon payment that candidates will be issued their student visa for entry in Mauritius. However, if the candidate does not obtain a visa from the Passport and Immigration Office (PIO), he/she will be refunded TUITION fees paid only and ehere as no refund shall be entertained for the fees paid for the application and registration etc

10.4 A student who does not pay all fees and charges as required shall be suspended from the institute and may only be re-admitted with the permission of the manager of the centre and on such terms and conditions as may be prescribed.

10.5 Certificates of Graduates will be withheld as long as the graduates have not cleared all their liabilities towards the institute .

Note:The institute reserves the right to amend the Programme Structures and individual modules, as well as the offer of modules during the duration of a course at any time with reasonable notice, by letters circulated through the Programme Coordinator and email to students concerned at least one month prior to the implementation of the amendment(s) made.
